Sandia Peak Challenge – 09, Notes and Results

12 07 2009

First and foremost (Part 1):
Thanks to all the racers and friends who came out.  It was a perfect (warmish) sunny day for riding fast through the trees.
.
This event is a fundraiser and public awareness event for the non-profit New Mexico Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
.
By participating in the event, you help some really good people do very important work here in New Mexico for people and families living with CF.

First and foremost (Part 2):
Thanks to the NM-CFF and the sponsors for presenting this event.  Bike races are neither easy nor free to put on.  In the present economy, sponsors have become even more rare and less generous.  The NM-CFF and its partners have stood in and shown their commitment to present this race and the other related activities as good quality, well-supported events.
.
If you enjoy racing your bike, do what you can to let the sponsors know that you appreciate their help and give them your business and support when you can. (They are listed below :-) )
.
Like most of us, the NM-CFF folks who put this event together need to report to others about the success of their projects.  If you appreciate their efforts, it never hurts to send a quick note of support.  (Likewise, if there are suggestions on things to improve, that feedback is helpful as well.)
.
The NM-CFF’s executive director is Amanda Myrick-Bergamo, and she (along with many other hard workers and volunteers from the Chapter) were there each step of the way.  Her email address is:  new-mexico@cff.org

Cloudcroft Cancelled

24 03 2009

Unfortunately, due to health concerns in the promoters’ family, they need to forego presenting the High Altitude Classic race this year.

They were looking forward to doing the event, and they regret needing to cancel it.
That is still a great weekend to grab a bike and visit Cloudcroft for some riding.  Several folks are planning on doing just that.
